[{"content":"There is a little breathless flower\nThat blooms at night in my garden.\nRadiant under the moon\nI can’t take my eyes away.\nWhen morning comes,\nI see the petals, withered in half blossom.\nThere is a little mango tree in my heart,\nHung under the weight of fruit\nthat glistens in the morning dew.\nMy mouth betrays my hunger.\nWhen noon comes,\nI see the worms.\nThe fruit ripened before maturity.\nThere is a wild stallion in my body,\nA beast of passion with a tongue of fire.\nAt high noon it is war champion Lwanda Magere:\nThe scent of its sweat is the memory of ambrosia.\nWhen evening comes\nIt is a lazy donkey.\nJealous. Stubborn. My tame hyena.\nThere is a bubbly babbling brook of life in my soul.\nThe waters are a memory of my father,\nThe suffering God of infinite comfort.\nAnd when I sleep,\na strange poet in shepherd sandals offers me tea,\nand tells me strange tales of a new creation.\nThere is a contract of financial freedom on my desk,\nBetween me and a messenger of light,\nWhen I am faint from work in the noonday sun,\nIt whips me up and demands I go on.\nOn Sabbath light, I see the fat demon\nMammon, he feeds me enough so I don’t die\nBut just morsels, lest I strengthen and fly.\nThere is a little window into a hall of grand visions\nIt opens up when I seat at my table\nWhen I am despairing it gives me novelty,\nShows me friends at dinner and strangers laughing.\nWhen my money runs out,\nAlas. It is only my phone.\nAn expensive brick I treasure more than sleep.\nTell me, O Eve, ancient mother\nDid we win?\nAre we like God yet?\nWhy is my body a riot of passions?\nWhy can’t I sleep? Why can’t I wake up?\nWhy am I horny when alone? And bored when with company?\nWhy am I saddest after eating?\nAngriest when comforted?
